Sadar hills districthood demand Committee today threatens to launch serious agitation demanding to create Sardar Hills - a full fledged district. Speaking to a press conference held at kuki inn Kangpokpi, president of the committee Ngamkhohao Haokip announced to launch a weeklong 24 hour total economic blockade along the National High Way 39 and 53 from the Midnight of July 31.
He said the total economic blockade will continue till 7th of August and if government failed to take up any positive action to the demand the committee will further intensify the agitation and launch other serious form of agitation which might greatly affected to the state administration in the purposed Sadar hills area. While appealing the transpoters’s body to co-operate with the committee’s agitation Ngamkhahao further said that the demand for a full fledged Sadar Hills administrative district is a genuine case and petition demanding the district had been submitted to almost all the governor and chief ministers of Manipur . Moreover since the time when Manipur legislative assembly replaced the territorial council each successive state government had formed several committees to study the boundary of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council. He also said that two persons have been sacrifice during the course of agitation demanding Sadar Hills district in 1981 and 2008. Appealing the government to take the issue seriously, Ngamkhohao Haokip re-affirmed stand of the committee to demand the Sasar hills as a full fledged administrative district.
