Has the state government department cheating the general public by giving wrong information while answering question asked under the right to information act? The matter came under suspicion after the state electricity department said that all formalities of agreement or contract between the state government and the NHPC regarding transfer of Loktak project was stated to have been submitted to the later in the year 1971 when Loktak Project was not even to the dream of the state.
In an enquiry by RTI activist K Seityajit the electricity department authority said – No official records are available in their office about the transfer of the project to NHPC and agreement / contract thereof. All formalities might have done before the establishment of the electricity department government of Manipur in the year 1971. Surprisingly, The National Hydro Electric Power Corporation was established in the year 1975 as per record. It become a matter of great surprise to the public on assuming how the agreement or contract could have been submitted to the NHPC when it was not yet born at all. More surprisingly, it became a matter of great concerned to the general public on assuming on how a department could have submitted all important documents to another department without maintain a copy for themselves.
The electricity department cheating to the public was also once more came to light after the authority said there is no provision of uninterrupted power supply or VIP line in existing system. The answer provided by the department to RTI activist K seityajit appeared as true lei as everyone in Imphal city knows that there is a power line called uninterrupted power supply being enjoyed by privileged class. Lately Chief Minister had also said that uninterrupted power supply have been providing to all media house in the state while answering to journalist in the present of Home Minister P Chindambaram at Raj Bhavan.
